The Citille di Sopra farm, was born in 1997 from the conveyance of Innocenti family to their son Fabio. Fabio, formerly owner of a farm’s share since 1992, decided to embark on the wine business and at the same time going on with his chief job with decennial experience: the cereal cultivation.
After a lots of careful evaluations about the soil, it was decided for the graft holder to stick both of the “barbatelle” and the Sangiovese clones. It was carefully evaluated the breeding form of the vine too. However, it was decided to use the rammed cord because both the limited produced quantity and the area in which we are required the obligation to use this type of breeding.
In over one hundred hectares in Fabio Innocenti’s property, at present just 5,5 hectares are cultivated by vineyard: Fabio has chosen the best zone to produce Brunello.

The soils are mainly clayey, rich of limestone, mixed with large tuff zones, basically sterile. These soils are ideal for the vine to be positioned in the middle hill, thus avoiding in these areas the presence of icy and frosty late fogs that can occurs in the valley zones.
The almost continuos presence of ventilation, assures a good protection from the plant diseases: this reduces to a minimum the phytosanitary treatments.
